Mountain caribou live in the mountain ranges of southeast British Columbia and parts of Washington, Idaho and Montana. Considered one of the most endangered mammals in North America, the Mountain Caribou population has been steadily declining from approximately 2,200 in the late 1990s to about 1,900 today.

USA

  • The US National Parks has a Volunteers-In-Parks (VIP) program. Persons interested in becoming a VIP must complete a volunteer application and mail it directly to the park where they wish to volunteer.
  • There are opportunities to volunteer through the National Wildlife Federation.


Global

  • The Earthwatch Institute offers a wide variety of volunteer expeditions around the globe. Expeditions range in length from five days to almost three weeks.
  • Post or view volunteer opportunities at Idealist.org.
